John Major

Ex-PM Major spoke passionately (a strange turn of events in itself) about political jargon and a failure on the part of politicians to use ‘plain English’ when communicating with the electorate. Still a hugely influential figure, we hope Major’s words will be heeded…though we doubt it.

CNN began the year at loggerheads with the new President, and the confrontation showed no signs of slowing down as it drew to a close. Regularly accused of peddling ‘fake news’ for daring to query some of Donald Trump’s more questionable policies, and whenever they mentioned ‘Russia’, CNN stood firm and provided us with reliable real news.
