The boxes below explain the different types of corporate membership. They also show the costs and the free training provided. If you are not sure which is the best option for you, please email us at info@plainenglish.co.uk.

 Life membership
 £12,000 + VAT (no yearly renewal fee)

 First year
 In-house training for 20 people.

There is no charge for the course, but you must pay £150 + VAT for the trainer's expenses and   administration, plus any necessary accommodation costs. If you are based outside mainland UK, you must pay the trainer's full   travel costs.

 Each following year
 50 free places on an online course

 Standard membership  (covers a whole council, government department or large company)

 £6,000 + VAT (yearly renewal fee of £3,000 + VAT)

 One in-house training course each year for up to 20 people

 There is no charge for the course, but you must pay £150 + VAT for the trainer's expenses and administration, plus any   necessary accommodation costs. If you are based outside mainland UK, you must pay the trainer's full travel costs.

You cannot carry courses or places over from one year to another.

 Small business membership (covers a small business with fewer than 50 employees)

 £4,000 + VAT (yearly renewal fee of £2,000 + VAT)

 Three free places each year on a virtual open course

 Single-department membership (covers a single department of a council, university or organisation)

 £2,000 + VAT (yearly renewal fee of £1,000 + VAT)

 One free place each year on a virtual open course, or 10 free places each year on an online course

 Partnership or sole trader membership (covers sole traders or partnerships with a turnover of less than   £500,000 a year)

 £1,500 + VAT (yearly renewal fee of £750 + VAT)

 Five free places each year on an online course

 Charity membership (covers registered charities)

 £500 + VAT (yearly renewal fee of £500 + VAT)

 10 free places each year on an online course
